Get involved. Together we can do great things!

Join a retreat

Every year, Gone Far Beyond creates once-in-a-lifetime trips that raises funds to benefit local individuals, families and communities in crisis. Marissa calls her treks and retreats 'giving and receiving experiences' as your participation in every retreat will touch you and also enhance the lives of local people in hardship.

Skilled volunteering

Gone Far Beyond’s programmes are underpinned by the principles of social responsibility and sustainability as well as human rights, empowerment and capacity building. Join us by letting us know why you want to volunteer and what skills you have. All volunteers undergo a background check and interview process.

Join a programme

As a social worker and mental health professional, Marissa takes the values of human rights and social responsibility principles to heart, and carefully evaluates the impact and beneficence of every social programme together with local community leaders. Help us by fundraising, spreading awareness, making connections and providing your skills.

Do research

We urgently need skilled volunteers to do research, surveys and programme design for many current and new projects. Just to name a few: needs/risk/impact assessments, client story documentation, professional development assessments for nurses, Doctors, teachers, developmental delay and client family history assessments.

Fundraise or Sponsor

We have so many programmes we cannot begin due to lack of funds. You can sponsor a programme or pay bills. All financial contributions are accountable and used efficiently. We need funds for medical, mental health and family clinics (electric, gas, rent, food, clothes), school/medical supplies, entrepreneurship and vocational trades scholarships etc.

Bring your group to Asia

Bring your colleagues, organisation or friends to Nepal and India for an unforgettable tour or educational course. Share your vision with Marissa and she will take care of all the details. She will not only bring your dream to life but connect you with experiences you never imagined possible. 10-45% percentage of all profits goes directly to charity.

VOLUNTEERING, RESEARCH AND EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES ARE BY APPLICATION ONLY.

Want to join us by volunteering in India and Nepal

For those who are attending a 1-2 weeks retreat or tour and have a specific skill to share, there is an opportunity request to stay after the retreat for one week to five months (visa and placement dependant).

Included in the retreat will be an additional induction, along with history, culture and language lectures. The retreat will equip you with local knowledge, basic language, resolve any misconceptions about Nepal, enlighten you about the current state of development in Nepal and the issues they face and why. It is also an opportunity to enjoy the most beautiful places in the country and help you to understand the local worldview and way of working, so you feel confident when you begin volunteering. You can find the retreats by CLICKING HERE.

For anyone wishing to volunteer at other times of year, there is a $500USD facilitation fee per person to cover the skill, effort, connections, time and expense it takes to organise and facilitate these initiatives.

We currently have volunteer positions for medical, teaching and professions specialising in working with extreme poverty

There is a need for the following occupations: Nurses, doctors, therapists, school teachers, disability workers, mental health professionals, all medical professionals and those with expertise working with extreme poverty. However, if you have other skills outside this please do contact Marissa.

For anyone who currently works in a hospital. There has also been a request by a hospital for an exchange programme for Nepalese medical doctors for 1-6 months. This would give them the possibility of learning different ways of practising medicine in other hospital settings and bringing this knowledge and experience back to Nepal. If anyone can assist Marissa with co-ordinating this endeavour with hospitals outside Nepal it would be greatly appreciated.

There are 5 projects designed and facilitated by Marissa in conjunction with local leaders. These are by application only.
